Case Study: A PerfectFit™ Home For a Perfect Getaway in Montana

Posted on May 3, 2024

Nestled in the picturesque mountains outside of Bozeman, Montana is one of Riverbend’s innovative PerfectFit™ homes. Designed to seamlessly integrate with the natural landscape while maximizing functionality and space, this Riverbend PerfectFit™ home stands as a testament to modern architectural design and construction efficiency.

Embarking on her retirement journey, the homeowner was looking for a sanctuary that could be constructed quickly and efficiently with a focus on minimizing its ecological footprint. Her vision was to have a home that not only offered comfort and convenience, but also maximized energy efficiency and highlighted the stunning landscape and views from her mountaintop perch.

Knowing she wanted a timber frame home, she found Riverbend Timber Frame’s PerfectFit™ plans and immediately fell in love with the Augusta. This modern contemporary farmhouse features a breezy, open air floor plan with a central main living space boasting large glass doors on either side. These create a feeling of spaciousness as they give the room clear visibility out both directions, making the area very open to the environment. The bedroom wings are strategically placed on either side of the home – cleverly designed to maximize both privacy and stunning views.

Wanting to be hands-on in the design of her forever home, the client worked together with the Riverbend team to ensure that every aspect of the home reflected her priorities of elegance, efficiency, environmental friendliness, and charm.

By choosing a PerfectFit™ design, the client was able to cut out many of the time consuming steps that go into designing a custom home, while still offering numerous customization opportunities and the ability to put her own touches in her home – like adding a larger garage and making window modifications. The efficiency of PerfectFit™ creates faster turnaround times – enabling the process to move rapidly and avoid many of the delays and bottlenecks of traditional builds.

The completed home boasts a range of features and innovations tailored to the client’s needs:

  • Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs): SIPs provide superior insulation and air sealing, significantly reducing energy consumption and maintaining a comfortable indoor environment year-round.
  • Custom Steel & Timber Trusses: Strategically designed steel and timber trusses enhance the structural integrity of the home, ensuring durability and safety, especially in the mountainous terrain, while adding elegance to the home’s interior and supporting the roof structure.
  • Open Floor Plan: The layout maximizes space and natural light, promoting a sense of openness and connectivity with the surrounding landscape.

The construction process proceeded swiftly, meeting the client’s desire for an efficient build while Riverbend’s expertise in timber framing and structural design ensured that the home was built to the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship. The client’s completed home stands as the culmination of a lifelong dream – “This home will be her last home, and she wanted to build it exactly the way she envisioned it,” said Riverbend’s designer for the home. With its completion, the homeowner is thrilled with the final product. “It’s her dream come true. Her enthusiasm and excitement were contagious – what a joy it was to work with her on her dream home.”

Riverbend’s PerfectFit™ series continues to redefine the standards of modern construction, offering pre-designed customizable homes that meet the diverse needs of homeowners like this client in Bozeman, Montana, as well as all over North America. By prioritizing speed, efficiency, and environmental friendliness, Riverbend remains at the forefront of timber frame construction, providing innovative solutions for a more sustainable future.
