Blissfield’s Riverbend Timber Framing completed the Sleepy Hollow Bridge project in Sylvania, Ohio, earlier this month, just in time for a pre-Thanksgiving dedication.

Sleepy Hollow, a 48-year old subdivision, has become known in the area for its covered bridge, which crosses Ten Mile Creek to connect the subdivision with the rest of town. When improvements to the bridge structure became necessary, the residents of Sleepy Hollow agreed to an assessment to replace the bridge, and Riverbend was tapped to do the job.

Riverbend advisor Dave Corwin supervised a crew from E.S. Wagner, the construction company that held the bridge contract, in raising the frame. Despite a couple of bad-weather days, the frame went up in about a week, with the road requiring only brief closures while trusses were being raised. The homeowners’ association held a dedication on November 22, complete with Sylvania’s town crier and a ribbon cutting, with a long-time Sleepy Hollow resident doing the honors.

Riverbend Timber Framing, Blissfield, Mich., is one of the leading timber frame design and manufacturing companies in North America, creating environmentally friendly custom timber frame homes, vacation homes and commercial buildings since 1979.
